Truckers in California
I realized just how crazy some drivers are in California. I also realized how crazy some truckers are in California. I have been driving nights for a week now and in just the short time I have seen the crazy driving of night truckers. Don't they realize that there seeing distance has been cut down. I have been getting so pissed off when a trucker decides to pass me his ass end barely gets passed me and bam he is right in front of me with a space cushion of 5 feet WTF is that all about. I'm constantly backing off of them. I don't want to be a cross on the side of the road thank you. Then there is the speed they are going. I know 55 seems slow to them but its posted for a reason SAFETY! Thats why you see more and more California truckers getting into accidents and more then one because they follow to damn close to each other.

At least we know there's one cautious driver on the road that gives a damn and has to drive defensive also! take care out there Zyphor
ReplyDeleteKeep driving defensive! Yes truckers could take it more easy, but if loads don't get there on time dispatchers make them sit. When I was driving I recieved a lot of loads that were already a day or two behind. But I had your thinking and just told the dispatcher this load needs to be resceduled for delivery before taking load. Only got burned once when delivery was backed up 3 days. Driving in So Cal 4 wheelers are very aggresive and cut big trucks off. Seems like every time that blinker went on someone would try to beat me to the spot. Dangerous, but the moves had to be quick and that the trend for a lot of big cities. Don't hear anything about it, but show signs of a delay, someone else will be just itching to beat you and cause an accident. A lot more could be talked about but human nature changes to bad when behind the wheel. But more help will come from other truckers than 4 wheelers. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteGo a few mph slower than the rest...just 2 or 3 and you wont have to back off, they will walk away from you. And, you really wont loose enough time that would be noticed.
ReplyDeleteMike, my husband is also a truck driver and he was involved in a really bad accident in '97 when another trucker tried to cut him off. The other driver was cited and it took Tom almost a year to recover from his injuries. His main complaint of drivers today is when people cut off trucks, not knowing how long it takes to slow them down. Cindy
